Police POLICE OFFICER
BERWICK BOROUGH Qualified persons are invited to apply to the Borough of Berwick Civil Service Commission to take competitive examinations leading to eligibility for appointment as a Full-Time or Part-time Patrolman for the Berwick Police Department. General Requirements: Full-time AND Part-time Candidates, at the time of application must: (1) Possess a diploma from an accredited high school or a graduate equivalency diploma (GED); (2) Be Act 120 Certified under the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Act (Act 120), or shall have successfully completed Act 120 Training and successfully passed the final exam, thus being eligible for Act 120 Certification once hired by the Borough; (3) Be a United States Citizen; (4) Be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer; (5) Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age; and (6) Possess valid motor vehicle license and be eligible to legally operate a motor vehicle in Pennsylvania. Successful FULL-TIME applicants must reside in the Borough of Berwick or establish a principle residence within fifteen (15) air miles of the borough border within one (1) year of hire.

Successful applicants must also meet all the requirements of the Borough's Civil Service Rules and Regulations that will include a pass/fail physical test, oral and written tests, a background investigation and polygraph examination, and if selected, be required to successfully pass a physical and psychological examination.

A completed application, with a $35.00 non-refundable application fee, must be filed or sent to the attention of Borough Manager Debra Force at the address above, before 4:00 PM on Monday, November 30, 2015.

Police The Borough of Berwick is currently accepting letters of intent and resumes for Provisional Appointment to the position of Part-Time Police Officer The provisional appointments are temporary positions, applicants which are appointed will not be retained after the exigent circumstances regarding the work schedule no longer exist. Applicants must have reached their 21st birthday and be Act 120 Certified by date of hire. Applicants must possess a diploma from an accredited high school or a graduate equivalency diploma. A college diploma is preferred. In addition, every applicant must be a United States citizen, be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of a police officer, and, prior to appointment, possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Borough of Berwick Civil Service Commission will within three weeks to hold a competitive examination and certify a list of eligible candidates and a regular appointment shall then be made from the name or names submitted by the Civil Service Commission.
